Who is Lionel Quillet ?
Lionel Quillet is the founder and director of Atelier Quillet, a company renowned for its expertise in the restoration and conservation of antique documents and works of art. Located in Loix on the Île de Ré, Atelier Quillet stands out for its skills in bookbinding, book restoration and framing, and has been awarded the prestigious ‘Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant’ label, which recognises excellence in traditional craftsmanship.
Passionate about preserving cultural heritage, Lionel Quillet is actively committed to promoting and safeguarding French craft traditions. Under his leadership, Atelier Quillet has successfully combined traditional techniques with modern innovations to offer high-quality services to individuals, libraries and museums.
Thanks to his commitment and passion for craftsmanship and heritage, Lionel Quillet continues to inspire and pass on his expertise to future generations, thereby reinforcing the importance of preserving our cultural heritage. This dedication earned him the rank of Chevalier in the Order of the Legion of Honour by the Ministry of Culture on 14 July 2024.
The history of Atelier Quillet since 1987
Founded in 1987, Librairie et Atelier Quillet quickly established itself as a national benchmark in the field of conservation, restoration and binding of antique documents. Awarded the ‘Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant’ (Living Heritage Company) label, it combines tradition and craftsmanship to preserve written heritage while offering a unique space for discovery.
Since its creation, Atelier Quillet has made it a point of honour to offer a high-quality restoration and bookbinding service, attracting history and literature enthusiasts.
With 400 m² of floor space, the bookshop displays literary and artistic treasures, ranging from antique books to posters and maps.
